Steel Wall Frames, Trusses & Bases

Centrix manufactures steel wall frames, trusses and floor chassis for clientele ranging from owner builders through to large transportable building companies.

History

In 2006 Centrix was approached by one the country’s largest transportable building manufacturers to assess whether we could assist them in manufacturing steel chassis’ predominately for retirement village and mine site dwellings.
Our brief was simple. We needed to ensure that on a consistent basis:

1. We delivered on time; and
2. We delivered a quality product.

It soon became apparent to our client that we were able to consistently achieve these two objectives.

As a consequence, we were invited to build steel wall frames and trusses as there was a shortage of suppliers that could consistently deliver a quality product on time.

The Steel wall framing division continued to grow as Centrix took on work for additional clientele. We now service two of Australia’s largest builders of transportable buildings.

In late 2008, Centrix established an alliance with Goldfields Steel Framing that enabled our alliance to offer a greater range of services to clientele.

 

Growing our Business

In order to stabilise and continue to grow the business we identified two secondary objectives namely:

1. Becoming more price competitive; and
2. Offering more than others.

Although we identified these two additional objectives, we also wanted to ensure that we would not compromise our primary objectives of delivery and quality.

Becoming more price competitive

Breaking it down to its fundamentals, price is a function of material and labour cost. Steps taken by Centrix to reduce material and labour costs without compromising on delivery and quality include:

1. Material suppliers – with size comes buying power. Accordingly, Centrix is able to negotiate better rates with suppliers as it purchases more.
2. Investment in Equipment – Centrix continues to invest substantial amounts in equipment (and processes) to reduce material wastage and reduce labour costs.
3. Client interaction –We work with our clients to assess the ways we can build faster and cheaper without compromising quality. 

Offering more than others

Centrix has identified the following things that sets us apart from other suppliers:

1. Improved communication – Centrix is frequently complimented on its ability to keep clients aware of the status of its projects. We ensure communication is maintained with all relevant client staff.
2. Range of Product – Through our alliance with Goldfields Steel Framing we are able to provide both 75mm and 90mm framing systems with thicknesses ranging between 0.75mm to 1.6mm. Our wall frames come in both welded and riveted format.
3. Identification of drawing errors – Occasionally, drawing errors hit our desk. With industry (and specific client) experience, Centrix frequently picks up these errors prior to fabrication.
4. Problem Rectification – Occasionally fabrication errors occur whether the fault of the client or Centrix. Our philosophy is simple “Fix the problem first, sort out why it happened later and ensure it doesn’t happen again”. We understand the importance of client deadlines and the importance of getting on with it. 
5. True Partner Relationship -  Centrix is focused on developing long term relationships with all its clients. As part of building and maintaining this relationship:
   • we make recommendations to designs where appropriate;
   • we advise whether we will have trouble in meeting a delivery date prior to taking on a job;
   • we will slot in urgent jobs;
   • we will assist with material and labour supply to support the client when requested;
   • we will deliver anywhere in Western Australia. 
6. Wall Frame Design – For clients that do not have a drawing office (or are too busy) Centrix is able to provide a wall frame design and engineering service.
7. Access to our mechanical engineers – With a team of mechanical engineers, we may be able assist clients solve particular production issues they may have (eg. OH&S issues, lifting and production problems etc.).

Owner Builders

Centrix and Goldfields Steel Framing offer ther following services to Owner Builders:

• Construction Packages to lock up stage;
• Design services for both the domestic an commercial market;
• Installation of house frame and/or wall frames;

• Home extension services.
